The Dallas Mavericks grabbed the 2011 NBA championship trophy from the Miami Heat. A lot of people were skeptical at first if the Mavericks will go all the way to the finals, but they did. Not only did they play in the finals, but they won the finals. So, here are some thoughts about the 2011 basketball games between the Dallas Mavericks and the Miami Heat.
Many people thought the Dallas Mavericks will not go all the way to the finals primarily because the team was generally comprised of older, though experienced basketball players, such as Shawn Marion, Jason Kidd, and Jason Terry. Though Dirk Nowitzki, a German player who is also a powerful forward, is one of the most envied players this season, many thought that he alone will not be able to keep the game at a high momentum with an older group. It was also mentioned in the 2009-2010 basketball previews that the team lost key player, Erick Dampier. But Tyson Chandler joined the team. Still, Chandler, a reserve center, was also injured; and this was a cause for great concern. Still, the team proved everybody wrong as they won a number of key games during the NBA playoffs, and then the final games. Third season head coach, Rick Carlisle, led the team to the NBA finals.
As for the Miami Heat, the team had a 47-35 2009-2010 record and was 5th in the Eastern Conference. The Heat was considered as a formidable team with key players like Chris Bosh, Dwyane Wade and LeBron James. Zydrunas Ilgauskas was another key addition to the team. The Heat had a satisfactory line-up even though they lost great players, such as Jermaine O’Neal, Michael Beasley, and Quentin Richardson. A lot of people were curious, and some were somewhat annoyed when Heat all-time coach Pat Riley let go of O’Neal and Beasley to be replaced by players, such as Eddie House, Juwan Howard, and Mike Miller, whom many believed were beyond their prime. But Riley believed his three star players, James, Bosh and Wade, will all come together and nab the coveted 2011 NBA championship title.
The NBA basketball games during the final playoffs were dominated by the Dallas Mavericks who won 4-2 against the Miami Heat. Here’s a short recap of what happened during the basketball games between the two teams. The Heat won Game 1 with a score of 92-84. The Mavericks won Game 2, 95-93, while they lost again to the Heat during game 3, 88-86. During Games 4 and 5, the Mavericks dominated the games, scoring 86-83 and 112-103, respectively. Finally, the Mavericks nabbed the 2011 NBA Championship during Game 6, scoring 105 to the Heat’s 95. So, that’s how the Dallas Mavericks won the championship.
