Blueberry Smoothie Without Yogurt

January 6, 2012

I love to make me a tasty blueberry smoothie without yogurt, but there are a couple details to keep in mind so that you can get the best possible flavor and taste out of your delicious smoothie recipes, and by far the most important is the quality of the fruit, and in particular, the blueberries that you use. Now I tend to prefer going with organic produce, because not only have I found that organic fruit tastes better, but I certainly do not want to consume all of the nasty toxins, pesticides, and other chemicals that are found with traditionally grown produce, yuck! I also reccomend that, because you are not using yogurt to make your blueberry smoothie that you at least use a banana or two to naturally thicken up the smoothie so that it is allot more palatable.

I also like to add in some other ingredients to make these types of smoothies healthier if I can, with the most important being flax seeds or flax seed oil for added omega 3 fatty acids. We simply do not get enough of this vital nutrient in our diets and I feel like this is a great way to get this type of fat. Plus, allot of vitamins are fat soluble which means they are only readily absorbed by the digestive system and the body at large if there is some fat consumed along with the veggies and fruits that contain fat soluble vitamins and nutrients. As always, I reccomend that you only use filtered water for your smoothies if you do not intend to use organic juice, just make sure you never use raw tap water or bottled water! Here is a recipe to get you going!
