Denture Implants – Are They the Best Option for You

October 24, 2011

Removable dentures are very uncomfortable because they move a lot and tend to fall off. Some dentures use adhesive to stick in the gums which is also not very convenient. Denture implants are proven to secure the dentures without using any adhesives, plus it looks and feels like the real thing. Denture implants use titanium screws to permanently secure the dentures into your gum. There are no negative side effects on the gums and the mouth. Once the prosthetic posts or screws are placed into the gums, it will provide a very strong and tight bond with the denture so there will be no movement of the dentures or accidentally falling off which can be very embarrassing.

The goal is to securely attach the dentures so it would not move even in the roughest conditions. The patient has to chew normally like before when they still have a normal set of teeth.

Denture implants are not recommended for everyone. This procedure is ideal for people who have lost most of their teeth and those people who are already using dentures. This is a great improvement from the common removable dentures that we see from our grandparents. The denture implants can improve the way you eat and chew your food and it can also make you more confident around people.

The number of screws or post has to be determined by your dentist during check up. Usually they just use two posts but in some cases they use more than two posts but they use slightly smaller screws which they call the mini dental implants.
The full implant and the mini dental implants are usually done in the lower jaw but it can also be done on the upper jaw. It may be a bit expensive but it is all worth every dollar you pay because it can stay with you for many years.
