How to Eat Well

January 2, 2012

How should we choose the foods we eat? Many people are falling prey to obesity when they fail to take note of the foods they put in their mouth. In today’s society, we are eating more and more processed foods and this has caused a huge strain on our health, particularly on our weight. Most of the foods sold in fast food restaurants go through several processes to enhance the flavor, and this cause the foods to contain a larger amount of artificial chemicals such as fats. In addition, their cooking process involved tons of oil which further increases the fat content. Also, the foods are sold in huge portion meals which means we are eating more carbs per meal, which are then converted to fats in our bodies. Plus, fizzy drinks which contain a high sugar level is added to each meal making the whole meal far more unhealthy than it already is.

The basic of healthy eating is self control and know which foods are best for your body. For example, instead of heading to the nearest fast food chain for breakfast, another healthy choice is a low fat breakfast cereal. According to the cereal comparison chart listed on Chef Supremo, breakfast cereals such as Cheerios, Fiber One, and Special K are healthy choices which contain low fat, high protein and high fiber contents. In addition, skim milk or low fat milk help to round off a healthy breakfast.

As for lunch, instead of grabbing an instant one at the fast food restaurants, you can choose those which serve balanced and complete meals. Always opt to include vegetables for your lunch as health experts have mentioned that we need five servings of vegetables per day. Also, one serving of fruits after lunch aids in digestion, and helps to reduce unhealthy snacking before dinner.

Dinner wise, go for a light dinner to reduce the carbs intake. Dinner should be light because of the lack of activity after dinner, which means our bodies cannot digest too much food. Also, you should sum up your dinner with another serving of fruits to complete the daily required vitamins and minerals intake. Furthermore, the active enzymes helps our bodies to digest the food faster.
