Heroin Withdrawal and When the Symptoms will take effect
If you are wondering what withdrawal from heroin feels like because you are thinking about going cold turkey, maybe this will help.

The symptoms of opiate withdrawal can start anywhere between six to twelve hours after the last dose. It then starts to peak within one to two days after and then gradually start subsiding over five to seven days. Heroin is also an opioid drug so if you are wondering how long it will take to withdraw from it you can count on it being identical.

Some people may in fact experience the symptoms of heroin withdrawal for a much longer time, this is known as post acute withdrawal syndrome. Most people develop symptoms of craving to take more heroin. They wish to reduce the symptoms of the withdrawal and they also want to experience again the high of being on the drug.

They are also going to feel depressed, anxious, or irritable, and they may experience an overproduction of bodily fluids. Some people may sweat more, tear up, or have runny noses. Some other symptoms are diarrhea, nausea and vomiting, fever, restlessness, and sleep problems.

If you are trying to get off the drugs, you shouldn’t do it alone. You should make sure you have someone by your side that can help you along the way so you won’t be tempting to go back on the drugs.

I would not recommend quitting cold turkey unless you have no other alternative because opiate withdrawal can be down right nasty.

The best way to stop using heroin would be to go to some type of opiate addiction rehab because after all heroin is an opiate. The reason many prefer this method is they can be detoxed medically. While there you will basically be taken care of staff members that have been trained in this area to help addicts overcome their drug problems. They will also make sure you are comfortable during the detox process by giving you prescription medications.

I would get help as soon as possible because addiction is progressive and if one does not stop using things will indeed get worse.

Good luck
