Options when you Crave a Single Cup

January 31, 2012

Coffee options have certainly expanded in recent years. In days gone by, if you were at your place of employment, there would typically be a coffee club which would be a fund to which a group of employees would contribute. Every morning, whoever came into work the earliest would be tasked with making a pot of coffee for that group. If you came into work an hour after that pot of coffee was made, you would be drinking one hour old coffee. Apart from the fact that you would be drinking stale coffee, you also had to help pay for it.

In today’s workplace, it is unusual for a company not to pick up the tab for coffee for their employees. Companies have realized that caffeine has been known to boost productivity so it certainly makes a lot of sense to pay for employee coffee. It is a sound investment. But the tradition of having a common coffee pot is a thing of the past. There are a whole host of various coffee makers available for workplace as well as home coffee. The K-cup has certainly advanced the cause and popularity of the single cup coffee maker. The biggest benefits of the K-cup models are speed, freshness, and variety. There are many different types of K-cup coffees from which you can choose and you don’t have to settle for only coffee. You have options for tea and hot chocolate as well. Within 30 seconds of inserting the K-cup into the coffee maker you will have a fresh cup of coffee of your preference.

If you aren’t a big fan of coffee makers, there is another option which is much more personal in nature. The method of coffee brewing called pour over coffee is growing in popularity each day. The main reason why this type of coffee brewing is gaining steam in recent years is because you become the coffee maker. There is not a whole lot of paraphernalia that you need in order to brew pour over coffee. A ceramic cone and a filter that fits on top of your mug is all that you need in addition to the coffee and hot water, of course. Pour some freshly ground coffee into the filter which is inside the ceramic cone on your coffee mug. Then simply boil some water, let it sit for about a minute, and then pour the water on top of the coffee. The brewed coffee will drip through the cone funnel into your mug resulting in a custom, hand-crafted, cup of coffee. It’s an easy, no fuss, method to create the perfect cup of caffeinated bliss to your own specs.

The options for a single cup of Joe are available in various forms for the consumer today. Whether you buy a coffee maker or brew it yourself, you’ll be able to satisfy that craving for caffeine whenever it strikes throughout your day.
