If you’re suffering from hemorrhoids, this is nothing to be embarrassed about, hundreds of thousands of people suffer from this condition; it is the most frequent colorectal disorder. And while hemorrhoids are not usually a serious medical condition, they can become so painful that they can begin to impact the quality of your life and keep you from your favorite activities, this why understanding their underlying cause is so important.
The good news is that once you understand what causes hemorrhoids, you’ll be well on your way to better colon health. And while there is no such thing as a hemorrhoid cure, the swelling of the hemorrhoids can be reduced to the point that they can be as good as considered cured.
So, without further ado, the underlying cause of most hemorrhoids – is poor diet, or more specifically a diet without enough fiber. This lack of fiber cause people to feel the need to strain or “help” their colon pass stool which then causes an increase in blood pressure in the anal veins putting undue stress on them. When the vein experiences this sudden increase in blood pressures, the vein can then form a small bulge; the bulge is the hemorrhoid itself.
When the anal veins are functioning normally, they both fill and contract with blood flow to allow for the healthy functioning of the anal canal, it’s only when a hemroid forms and starts exhibiting symptoms that it is considered a disease.
Once you understand what causes hemorrhoids, you can take the simple step of improving your diet to both prevent hemorrhoids from occurring and to ensure that already existing hemorrhoids don’t become more of a problem in the future. If dietary changes are made early enough, hemorrhoids in less advanced stages can be fully reversed so that will no longer exhibit symptoms. Unfortunately, if these changes are not made soon enough, the hemorrhoids can advance and become increasingly more swollen and painful to the extent that surgery may then become the only option.
