I signed up for my first marathon because of a dare. My friend told me that I can’t finish a marathon and I was so cocky back then that I told him that I can. To cut the story short I did sign up for a marathon event that was coming up. I did so under the false impression that the distance of a marathon was only 10 kilometers. I ran almost every other day back then and I thought that 10K should be no problem for a guy like me. Imagine my feelings when I learned that I have to cover 26.2 miles to finish the event. The most sensible thing for me back then was to back out and just acknowledge that my friend had won the bet. I was too proud for that. I started looking around for the best means that I can prepare myself for running that kind of distance.
That was the time when I found out about the 100 Day Marathon Plan. I had that much time to get myself ready for the marathon and so I started using the training program in earnest. The plan was developed by a former Olympic runner so I guess one can say that he knew what he is talking about when he made up the training program. Even though I have no previous knowledge with scientific training I knew right away that the methods that I had to follow with the program is quite advanced.
I am happy to say that I won that bet, but the best news of it all is that I have found an activity that can really consume me now. I join all the running events that are happening in my area. I never miss anything. Thanks to the training program that I have followed. I would certainly recommend the the 100 Day Marathon Plan to anyone who is planning on joining a long distance running event for the first time.
