Smarter Ways to Shave

November 23, 2011

I thought I would take a little time to talk to you about some of the smarter ways to shave. For a lot of men out there you typically do what you were taught. When you were around your teenage years your father probably gave you a little lesson on how you’re supposed to shave. At the time he was probably using disposable razors, so you do the same. It amazes me that guys will go nearly their entire life doing a shaving method just because their father did it. There are other methods out that are and they’re actually smarter to use. I’m going to share a few of them with you.

The Electric Razor

This is by far the most underrated form of shaving. When I ask other men about this I always hear the most negative comments. “I didn’t shave close” or “it cuts you a lot” are the most common reasons I hear. The truth is that these statements were accurate about ten years ago, but technology has grown a lot since then. The best electric shavers are as good as any disposable razor. The big advantage that you end up getting is speed. You can get a good shave done in under sixty seconds. The reason for this is that most electric shavers today are wet/dry, which means you can use them on both a wet or dry face. If you find yourself in a rush, you can use the razor on your dry face without feeling any discomfort.

The Safety Razor

When it comes to safety razors, we’re talking about a method of shaving that existed before disposable razors. In fact, this was the main method used by cowboys to shave. Essentially it is shaving with a razor blade, but that can be quite dangerous. So at the time the Merkur safety razor was invented to protect shavers. When it comes to using a sharp razor blade, it’s all about the angle of the blade for shaving. The safety razor prevents the blade from hitting your face at the angles that will cut you. Despite this you need to practice using it. The benefit for this type of shaving is that you will not get any closer shave. Nothing will ever beat out an actual razor blade. If you’re looking for a very close shave than this is the option for you.
