Southward Visits Ohio State

December 15, 2011

The imminent weekend looks to be another massive hiring weekend for the Ohio State soccer programme.

Some of the top junior prospects in Ohio are anticipated as well as some major senior prospects from outside of the state of Ohio. One of the key visitors will be Lakeland ( Fla. ) wide receiver Ricquan Southward.

The 6-foot-2, 190-pound prospect committed to Miami ( FL ) last week but is still going thru with his official trip to Columbus. “I’m just keeping an unprejudiced attitude and going up there to try the facilities before I am making a last decision,” announced Southward. “I haven’t spoken to the coaches yet but I am expected to call them tomorrow to inform them when my flight is and everything. I am truly just anticipating seeing their facilities and how their programme works up there.” Southward had planned on visiting Ohio State for two weeks now after the Buckeyes extended a grant offer. In spite of his standing as a committed prospect, there might be another visit or 2 on the horizon. “I’m going to take visits to a few of the schools that need me to come up,” he said. “I’m just going to go round and take 2 visits ; I would like to keep an unprejudiced mind for a bit, in case I’d like it better some other place.

Besides Ohio State, I believe Florida wants me to go check them out the week after next but that is all I know of right now.” The Gators haven’t extended an offer yet to Southward, who claims things have slowed down a bit since issuing his oral commitment. Southward added that if things don’t pick back up, he’ll doubtless shut the method down. “Since I went to Miami, I actually haven’t got a whole load more calls except from Ohio State and Florida,” he said. “If I am not getting any calls after ( those 2 visits ), I should just sit right down and talk things over with my Mum and make a last decision.” On the field, Southward and Lakeland are still rolling with an ideal record. “We’re still undefeated, we are 10-0,” he announced. “We won the district championship last week. It was more of a running game than a transient game so I did lots of blocking. “.
