If you are thinking about buying a custom glass table top, then this article is a good place for you to start. I am the proud owner of two custom glass table tops and I really enjoy them. In this article, I will discuss some of the many things that I like about these table tops and give you an idea of what things you should be considering before you buy your very own.
One of my custom glass table tops is a stained glass table top, which is a mosaic of small pieces of glass of different colors that have been put together to produce a certain design. With a stained glass table top, the possibilities are endless as to what designs you can use. My table top has an American flag on it in a dark blue background, and it looks absolutely beautiful. This table top is round and it’s 36 inches in diameter. It shouldn’t be any more than twice as big as the underlying base. The glass is 3/4″ thick, which is more than the normal 1/2″ that is normally used on custom glass table tops. I just like that extra margin of protection. The edges of the glass is beveled all the way around, giving those who sit at it a smoother edge. This table top really looks sharp when the light in the room reflects off of it. I keep this table top at home, and it makes for a great conversation piece whenever I have visitors.
I also have a rectangular custom glass table top that was used to replace the top on my glass computer desk, when it was broken from when I dropped a heavy book on it. The table top is clear, although it does have a bit of a greenish tint from the minerals in the glass. The glass is a laminated glass, which consists of a clear sheet of vinyl that is sandwiched between two sheets of glass. In the event that the glass breaks, the vinyl sheet holds everything together so that shards don’t go flying everywhere. The edges of the table top are cut so that they look like waves, giving my computer desk a snazzy look. It also looks sweet in my office when the light from the windows shines on it.
In this article, I just described the many things that I like about my custom glass table tops. This article should give you an idea regarding some of the things that you should be thinking about before you make a purchase of your own. Such considerations include the glass thickness, edge styles, type of glass, and the desired shape of your table top. If you take the time to carefully consider each individual factor that goes into making a custom glass table top, then you have a much better chance of being happy with your purchase when it’s all said and done.
